Dallas may as well be a foreign city. I grew up very sheltered. My life typically revolved around the same four places-school, church, the grocery store, and home. While this routine was safe and a dream-come-true for those who were less fortunate than I was, it was BORING. All I wanted was to get out, go somewhere, do something different. It resulted in many wasted years of looking at what I thought was the greener grass in other cities yards.
Fast forward 26 years later and I’m just now beginning to see Dallas’ potential. The places are just as weird as Austin’s. The people are just as talented as Los Angeles’. The food is….omg THE FOOD! You get the point. I no longer am in a hurry to leave. I want to be smack dab in the middle of it all.
The timing couldn’t be more perfect. I came across a post by rapper, Bobby Sessions describing the potential of this city.
“DALLAS HAS EVERYTHING.
ALL THE RESOURCES.
ALL THE TALENT.
ALL THE VENUES.
LET GOD WORK.
ROME WASN’T BUILT IN ONE DAY!!!!”
Life is what you make it and I want to live a full, bold one. Soooo…
Here’s the plan:
1. Find it
2. Do it
3. Write about it
Seems simple enough right?
Follow me as I step outside my comfort zone and experience all that Dallas has to offer.
P.S. Although this is a personal blog. It’s yours just as much as it is mine. Help me shape how outside folks and locals alike view Dallas. Don’t hesitate to leave a comment listing your favorite places (or people).
